Gathering information over tropical forests can be difficult and it takes a lot of time. Taken radar images can result faster and less expensive. But this radar images must be decodified in terms of forest structure, biodiversity and forest areas. As part of Tropenbos International programme, Marcela Quiñones created algorithms for decodifying radar images and creating accurate maps for San José del Guaviare and Araracuara, in the Colombian Amazon.
